Te Atatu Samoan Catholic Community was established in 1970, with a vision of keeping all the Samoan Catholic Parishioners together and voice their sense of belonging to the Parish, based on the church’s understanding and Catholic practice.
The community is active as it was in the early days, even with a lot of our members now living outside of the Te Atatu area as well as abroad. We have families that travel all the way from Manurewa, Sth Auckland, because of the continued fellowship and commitments to where it all started. Today we have one original member from when the Samoan community was established still going strong, Mr Sam & Mrs Pulotu Alice Enderman.
When the community was established, they decided to celebrate the feast of the Holy Family which falls on end of December beginning of January of every year. The Samoan community has celebrated the feast of the Holy family where we will put on a feast after celebrating mass and the parishioners will share this with our families and friends from other parishes.
